Nebracin 0.3% Eye Drop is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria by inhibiting the synthesis of essential proteins, required by bacteria to carry out vital functions.

3. What is Nebracin Eye Drop?

Nebracin 0.3 % Eye Drops is an antibiotic which used in the treatment of infections of the skin, heart, blood, stomach, brain and spinal cord and the urinary tract. It is also used for treating cystic fibrosis. Tobramycin may damage nerves and may cause permanent loss of hearing.

Tobramycin is a water-soluble aminoglycoside antibiotic active against a wide variety of gram-negative and gram-positive ophthalmic pathogens. Tobramycin is a drug of choice in corneal ulcers & pseudomonas infections. Tobramycin inhibits the protein synthesis of bacterias.

7. Warning of Nebracin Eye Drop

Pregnancy – This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women.

Breast-feeding – This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Eye drops or ear drops of this medicine may be used since they present little or no risk to the nursing infant. Discuss all the risks and benefits with your doctor before taking this medicine.

Drug resistance – Use of Nebracin 0.3 % Eye Drops without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of drug-resistant bacteria.

Neuromuscular disorders – Nebracin 0.3 % Eye Drops is not recommended for use in patients with existing neuromuscular diseases like Parkinsonism or Myasthenia gravis since it may worsen the condition of the patient.

Impaired kidney function – Nebracin 0.3 % Eye Drops may increase the risk of kidney injury, especially when high doses are used for a prolonged period. Suitable dose adjustments should be made based on creatinine clearance (CrCl).

8. Precaution of Nebracin Eye Drop

Avoid using the medicine if you are allergic to Tobramycin or similar drugs.

Eye drops

In mild to moderate infection, instill one or two drops into the affected eye(s) every four hours.

In severe infections, instill 2 drops into the eyes hourly until improvement following which treatment should be reduced prior to discontinuation.

Eye ointment

Apply a small ribbon (half inch) of Nebracin ointment into the affected eye 1 to2 times a day or as directed by the physician.

Nebracin 0.3% Eye Drop is used in the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye.

Tobramycin eye drops/eye ointment is used for the treatment of infections of the eye.

Tobramycin injection is used for the treatment of infections of the lungs, spinal cord, stomach, joints, and urinary tract.

Tobramycin respules is used for the treatment of lung and other upper respiratory tract infections.

Tobramycin may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by the doctor.

11. Storage of Nebracin Eye Drop

Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Keep the bottle tightly closed.

Do not use the drops after the expiry date (marked ‘Exp’) on the bottle and the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

Stop using the bottle 4 weeks after first opening, to prevent infections.  Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste.
